Day 2 - Details

Where: Charleston, SC

The first 600 miles was not without it's revelations, good and bad. The engine and transmission, which have 100k and 30k miles on them respectively, continue to perform admirably. The rest of the Mazda rattles, whines, and groans like it's been roused from the grave. The steering is a study in surprises, alternatively hard and sluggish, and hypersensitive. A bipolar alignment? Who knows.

I found my self at South of The Border just over the NC state line at 2 am last night. The manic fun house truck stop seems ripe for a massacre. Something about the neon lights, giant fake sombreros atop the buildings, and eerily deserted parking lots seems to say' "come murder the unsuspecting beneath the flashing Tamale sign".

I finally found my way to sleep around 7 am this morning. It's now nearly one and I'm waking up. Need to grab some food and get the oil changed.
